October is breast cancer awareness month.
We are dedicated to promoting awareness, early detection, and prevention of breast cancer. One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Bringing this disease to the front and center of our collective attention is very important.
Breast cancer is not uncommon. Nobody knows the exact cause of breast cancer and doctors seldom know why one woman would develop it over another. What we do know is that breast cancer is always caused by damage to a cell’s DNA.
Treatment options may include a variety of surgical interventions. Arizona Community Specialists has several highly skilled surgeons who perform surgical interventions for women and men diagnosed with breast cancer.
Some women require surgery to remove one or both breasts. This can be traumatic psychologically and physically. Reconstructive breast surgery is an option to help women take control and move forward from a mastectomy as well as regain the confidence they may have lost. Our plastic surgeons are available to help.
Early detection is very important. Routine mammograms and monthly breast exams are highly recommended. When breast cancer is detected in early stages, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%. That means 3.8 million beautiful breast cancer survivors in the United States today!
If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer requiring surgical care, our surgeons are here to help.
